In the course „Exhibition Design” we designed an exhibition about the subject symbiosis in humans. It’s about biological symbiosis, the interaction between bacteria and our body or our health. The exhibit is constructed like a partition with a total of 6 walls. The first 3 walls introduce the visitor to the subject, while on the back, acquired knowledge can be queried and applied. On the last wall there are recipe cards on the back to take away. These cards are meant to remind the visitor of the exhibition even after the visit, and of what he has learned.
ILLUSTRATIONS
The difficulty here was to process a subject which is often viewed with disgust (bacteria), in an aesthetic and informative way. To do this, we have presented the bacteria oversized in 3D and colored them. The rest of the illustrations contrast with this. They are illustrated in a minimalistic line art style.
DIGITAL INTERACTION
In addition, we have integrated several interactive elements, which are intended to familiarize the visitor with the information in a playful way and introduce them to it in an exploratory way. On the third wall is a simple digital interaction found on a screen. On a so-called “Wimmelbild”, visitors can select bacteria through touch and receive information on them.
ANALOGUE INTERACTION
The acquired knowledge is then tested on the back in the form of an analogue interaction. There the visitors can glue the bacterial stickers to their habitat and the solutions can be checked by pulling down the blind.
